    An Elderly Customer

She was ninety. She came to the store to buy a wedding anniversary present. Obviously she hadn't gone out shopping for a long, long time, because she was surprised at some very common things.

She wanted some nice glassware. The salesgirl asked, "Would you like this glass lamp? It's only $29 and very beautiful." "29 dollars for a lamp?" The elderly lady looked very surprised, "Oh my dear, prices these days!"

Anyway, in the end she settled for a glass vase. It was $8 and it was very nice. She asked the salesgirl to pack the vase. The salesgirl found a blue box, put the vase in it, and wrapped it up in a nice-looking way. Then she asked the lady if she wanted to pay
with her credit card. "Credit card?" Again the elderly lady looked
surprised, "What is it? Don't you accept cash?" The salesgirl was
amused. The old woman was one of the most interesting
                                                                              customers she had ever met.
