1.family
Family, the basic social group united through bonds of kinship or marriage, is present in all societies. Ideally, the family provides its members with protection, companionship, security, and socialization. The structure of the family, and the needs that the family fulfills vary from society to society. The nuclear family — two adults and their children — is the main unit in some societies. In others, it is a subordinate part of an extended family, which also consists of grandparents and other relatives. A third family unit is the single-parent family, in which children live with an unmarried, divorced, or widowed mother or father.
2.family ties in Western countries
Strong family ties are evident in all countries polled and most children (90%) report good or very good relationships with their mothers. This differs with fathers where between 80 and 70 percent (in the Western CIS and Baltic States) report a similar relationship and 7 percent of the respondents do not live with their fathers. The family’s economic situation and area are related to the quality of relationships. More children from higher income families or rural areas rate their relationships with parents as positive than those from poorer or urban families.
3.the best Mother’s Day gifts
When the HGTV (Home and Garden TV) hosts are asked to share memories of their favorite Mother’s Day presents, as well as the best gifts they have given to their own mothers, they say:
Sandra Betzina
The best present I ever gave was a silk blouse I made for my mother. She loved butterfiies so I found some silk with a butterfy print and I made her a blouse and she loved it. She was really thrilled. The best Mother’s Day gift I ever got was a little model car of a (Chrysler) PT Cruiser, last year. I had ordered a real one in March and I didn’t get it until December 28, so it was nice to have that little PT Cruiser model that I got from my children to look at while I was waiting the 10 months for my car to come.
Michelle Driscoll Alioto
No question, my most memorable Mother’s Day was 2000 when my beautiful, oldest daughter Michela was married. I expect this one coming up might even be better since she will be only a month away from being a mother herself.
Alex Anderson
My teenage daughter took me out to the movies and spent the entire day with me with a smile on her face the entire time. That was the best Mother’s Day present I’ve ever had. It was on the level of a miracle.
4.proverbs and quotations about family
•Happy laughter and family voices in the home will keep more kids off the streets at night than the strictest curfew.
•Having some place to go to is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.
•If you want a defnition of poverty, ask parents with three or four teenagers in the family.
•Children begin by loving their parents. After a time they judge them. Rarely, if ever, do they forgive them.
•Children do, indeed, help hold a marriage together, keeping their parents so busy they don’t have time to quarrel.
