For over ten years now, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has made available all of its courses for free on the World Wide Web through an initiative called MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW). This program was 1)  to give those in academia, as well as students all over the world an opportunity to have 2)  to MIT’s vast amount of knowledge. MIT is 3)  to give everyone on earth a chance to benefit from its 4)  amount of information and expertise. In an age where education is becoming more and more 5)  , MIT removes the barrier for individuals who cannot afford to 6)  university and allows them to have 7)  access to more than 2 000 courses including 8)  notes, problem sets, syllabuses, exams, simulations, video lectures, etc. Although the cost is great (over $100 million), it is of no cost to its users. 9)  MIT’s intentions are more commendable. They believe that by utilizing the Internet to impact individuals they will in turn be impacting communities and society as a whole. 10)  . Currently, MIT is reaching over 100 million individuals. However, their goal is to reach over a billion by 2021. 11)  . They are focusing on four areas (placing OCW everywhere, reaching key audiences, creating communities of open learning, and empowering educators worldwide). MIT is truly changing the world through technology, knowledge and generosity.
