Ala. hotel doesn’t
want flag group
MOBILE, Ala, April 10 (AP) — A hotel chain no longer will
welcome a convention
group whose members displayed the Confederate
flag during a meeting last summer. Some members of the Sons
of Confederate Veterans hung the flags from windows of the
Adam’s Mark Hotel in Mobile, causing some black employees
to refuse to show up to work. “I do think that a Confederate
flag, to put it in front of a black person, is kind of like
putting a red scarf in front of a bull. I think it’s something
unnecessary,” Fred Kummer, president of the 21-chain, said
from his office in St. Louis on Thursday.
