I used to be a teacher, and when I left
work to have Emma I hardly knew my neighbors’ names. Being
at home with your first baby is a great shock to the system.
For six months all my time was taken up by Emma, but she did
cry a lot and by the end of the day I could have screamed
myself. There was just no one I could phone to talk it over.
My husband was sympathetic but he was at work, and my mother
lives miles away.
