The number of unemployed young people all
over Europe is high and it is rising fast. This means that
the employment situation for young people in Europe could
become worse and worse. A number of factors are suggested
as the causes of youth unemployment. These include employers’
preference for adult workers, the problems of moving from
school to work, the attitudes of young people themselves towards
work, the activities of large international corporations,
and even Trade Unions, who may be more concerned with the
people who are employed than with the people who are not.
